Being as good at recycling as the citizens of Odense does not come in one day or one year. It takes decades to make disposing of waste as natural as buying new products.

The first recycling stations in Odense was born in 1980s with just a few containers placed at central spots in the city. Gradually the number of containers increased and the container stations got more and more accepted from the citizens. Within those 30 years the number of containers for different waste fractions has increased from 3 to 40. And the number is still increasing whenever a new technology makes it possible to recycle instead of landfill or incinerate.
